I love this song because it helps me remember a few important things. Everything must change. If you are going through a difficult time, it cannot remain the same. The difficulty will come to an end. On the other hand, if you are going through an amazing time, it also cannot remain the same, so do your best to enjoy it and cherish it while you can. The song seems simple in its lyrics, and shifts from sounding mournful (perhaps about how the passage of time can be brutal as we suffer loss and hardship), to sounding grateful or happy, maybe because we experienced something wonderful, or we know a much needed change is on the way. There is no doubt that our lives will be full of constant change. I take some comfort in knowing that if we can hold on during hard times, that things can get better. And it will be those dark times that will help illuminate in such sharp contrast the joy we will experience in the future.
